Home Committee

2012 - David Kalkbrenner

I am a registered professional engineer living in Columbus, Ohio.  I hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.   I work for Geotechnical Consultants, Inc. and provide design recommendations for site development work (mass grading, foundations, slabs, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, etc.).

I previously served as a volunteer camp counselor at the United Church of Christ (UCC) Outdoor Ministries Temple Hills camp in Bellville, Ohio for 9 years prior to attending BLW.  I enjoyed working with youth audiences in a camp setting and first attended BLW to learn new programming ideas for summer camp programs.  Little did I know that I would meet my future wife Susan while attending church camp in 7th grade!

I have served on the BLW committee since 1998 and have led programming sessions for Kites, Paper Craft, Basketry, and Paper Quilts.  During the 2009 workshop, I will assist with a food-related session (Recipe for Success) and another Kite session.

I greatly enjoy working with the BLW staff to promote recreation to new audiences.  My hope is that people attending BLW will use the workshop as a springboard to gain experience and new ideas that they will take to their home audiences – wherever that may be.

I have established a priceless network of friends and acquaintances through BLW.  I am truly honored and humble to serve with such an enthusiastic, creative, and passionate group of people from across Ohio and beyond.  I never dreamed that someday quilting and basketry would become part of my regular life.

Dave is currently the Treasurer and Registrar for the Buckeye Leadership Workshop Board of Directors.
